2012 Will be My Year!

If you’re anything like me you may have had trouble sticking to last year’s resolutions.. Well ,don’t worry; you can make 2012 the ‘year of establishment’ with these excellent tips. I’ve really been challenging myself! I've committed to doing what's necessary to see the changes that I desire in my life. While working on my new album, I will also be de-cluttering my life from things that are not serving me in the best way! I thank God for Jesus, who gives us the Power to commit and change!

Here are a few tips that will get you going and established for 2012!

Goal setting!

Random or unclear goals will get you nowhere. Take some time out to think about the positive changes that you want to usher into your life. This could be on the personal, professional or spiritual front. Make a list of goals for each of the 12 months – these should be realistic and hold a lot of value. So, make sure you give this the thought it deserves to lay a solid foundation for the year ahead!

Have an idea about how you will meet your goals!

Setting lofty goals that you have no idea how you will achieve is a strict no-no. So you want to be a better neighbor. How do you achieve this? Would inviting your neighbors over for a barbecue or starting a book club where you all can meet up once a month to discuss your favorite literary pieces help forge a bond? If yes, then note this down and work towards it.

Same goes for other goals. Do you believe that you can be a better Christian? See how you can use your talents and ideas to serve your local church, volunteer at a soup kitchen, or donate your time to teaching underprivileged kids. If you want 2012 to be the year when you land a full-time job with a good pay, assess which certification course or vocational training will best help you achieve this aim.

Keep a track of your progress!

By measuring your progress, you understand how far you have or haven’t reached your goal. This will also help you determine if you need to reassess your strategies and figure out if improvements are needed. Importantly, you will feel great when you measure your progress and see how far along you have come!

Devote some time for meditation and prayers!

When you spend a few quiet minutes everyday remembering Him, your fatigue washes away and you feel at peace. Meditation and prayers calm your body and mind, de-stress you effectively and have the power to make you stronger and more resolute. I spend time in prayer in the earliest part of my moring! This sets the priority of my day and sets the tone for all of my actions to follow.

Stay positive!

Without a positive frame of mind, you cannot achieve anything. Stay positive and optimistic. If you feel gloom or pessimism creeping up on you, talk to your spouse or family, or hang out with your friends to get over the negative thoughts.

Stay at Home Mom

When I was younger I was always independent. I never wanted my parents help with anything. I grew up as the younger sister and I wanted to do things on my own. This attitude generally worked in my favor growing up because I had my own ideas and views and could easily be a leader among my peers. Now that I am older, married and I have a very active toddler running around the house, there isn't much time for me to be alone and independent. Even my bath time gets a teeny weeny knock at the door.. "Mommy can I come in".. I can't resist her little voice! So what I've found is when everyone goes to the game or to grab groceries, that's the perfect time for me to fall into my "Stay at home Mom" role. I will stay back from some of those trips just to steal some moments alone. It's during this time when I can seek the Lord, write some goals, and even to just paint my nails! It's nothing wrong with needing some personal time because it helps you stay refreshed and focused for your loved ones. I love the song "Draw Nigh" by Fred Hammond ... It is so powerful and ministers right to the heart. Drawing nigh unto the Lord even in the short moments of the day can do wonders for your marriage, your children and everyone around you because you become in tune with Holy Spirit. That's the most beautiful experience in this world.
So tonight, I'm staying home to worship, clean, organize and have this treasured moment to myself:-)
